I'm getting more and more into setting up XnViewMP the way I want it - fabulous app with sooo much customization. : )
One thing I wonder about: is there a way to make a folder thumbnail be easier recognizable as such? I set XnViewMP to show one thumbnail for the folder's content, but the yellow folder frame around it is barely visible. See here:
The first thumb is a folder, the second an image (of which a copy is in that folder).

Re: Folder thumbnail recognizability
Please go to Tools → Settings… → Thumbnail → Misc and activate Show 4 thumbnails in folder's thumbnail (instead of 1).

Hi there, yeah I am aware of that option. But I do like one big thumb instead of four. : ) No biggie, have a nice Sunday.

Hey Sprawl2459!
Although I've tried all kinds of settings, I'm not able to reproduce the appearance of the folder thumbnail as seen in your screenshot. The tab (top left) is missing
Possibly related: Folder thumbnail size

Hmmm, yes the tab in the upper left corner would help. It's there, but it's barely visible:
The post you linked is not related I think. In Settings > Catalog I set both width and height to 384 px (low quality JPEG).

OK, now I see it. Please try this (slight improvement):Sprawl2459 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 8:05 amHmmm, yes the tab in the upper left corner would help. It's there, but it's barely visible:
- Go to Tools → Settings → Thumbnail → Appearance → Thumbnail cell and select black as Background.
- Select the folder, and then View → Rebuild thumbnails.

Re: Folder thumbnail recognizability
Hey there, thanks for the reply. : ) The moment I stumbled across a PNG with transparency, I did see the need for the adjustment you mentioned. Doesn't really help at all though with the quick recognizability of a folder icon as a folder though, when 1 thumbnail was chosen for folders and that thumbnail's source happens to be a square image. No biggie though, rather nitpicking. ; )
