I'm not sure how to explain how to replicate this, just wondering if anyone is having issues as commonly as I am.
When browsing through images, hitting enter to go from browser to viewer to fullscreen, using page up / page down, xnview mp regularly freezes or crashes.
When freezing, I can hit enter several times and nothing at all will happen. I'll have to go to task manager and close the program and start over.
Also, often I cannot reliably switch modes between thumbnails, viewer, and fullscreen. Very commonly the mouse clicks will have no response, neither will the keyboard.
Also, when viewing an image either windowed or fullscreen, often when I right-click to "copy to" or "move to" the selection dialog window will not come up. I have to click the mouse 5, 10, 20 times before it comes up.
Overall, MP seems to me to be very buggy compared to classic, although I had my problems with that one as well.
The same problem occurs for me regardless of whether using my ryzen or xeon PCs.
Anyone else having these issues?

Re: Constant freezing / crashing
When viewing normal small files, not for example large JPEG2000 files which need a lot of decoding?
Or could XnView MP possibly be caching many files, I'm not sure how resources are allocated for that?

Re: Constant freezing / crashing
I do insurance work and take photos for claims and there are tens of thousands of pictures that I keep on record and backed up not just after a claim is filed but I have to have pictures of equipment and installations that are "before" pictures too and it all has to stay archived. I keep things separated by policy and date but even then some folders can have hundreds of pictures in them.
My camera doesn't save in that format (jpeg2000) but most of the pictures are in the 3MB - 5MB file size range.
Some folders have video clips in them, some don't - but it doesn't seem to matter, as the program can stop responding when browsing in any folder.
Yes, I'm using windows 10.

Re: Constant freezing / crashing
It happens with any format in the folder.
Also, pressing esc sometimes leads to a blank screen, with mouse and keyboard becoming unresponsive. Happens on both my xeon and ryzen pcs.
XnView MP Windows
Version 1.4.3 64bits (Feb 25 2023)
Windows 10 Pro
19045.2364
Ryzen 7 5800X
16 GB
GeForce GTX 750 Ti
I've worked as a PC tech for years in the past and know my way around os installs, drivers, etc and this is a clean install with updated drivers.
This problem happens often, perhaps 20 times a day and has persisted for months in spite of my attempts to modify settings within xnview. I am looking for a different image browser but not sure what would work better.

No it doesn't always happen, but I use the software often enough that it happens at least a dozen times a day.
