Metadata copy/paste between files

Post by Gwenael Q. »

Hello,

Could someone explain me the purpose of "Tools > metadata > transfer" ?
I don't see any transfert, just metadata writing.

I miss a lot a feature that would allow to copy metadata from a image to one or more images. That's what I expected to find with the transfer command...

The new feature could be called "Paste metadata"

Select an image copy all or part of the metadata then select another image(s) and paste all or part of metadata to them!

Thanks for listening

As a workaround, if you need only one target :
-Open image without metadata.
Copy ( displayed image content)
Open image with metadata
Paste
Save as... with the name of 1st image... confirm.

Another way would be to study TagsFromFile in Exiftool...

Thanks for replying Michel.

I think XnviewMP deserve such a command.

Is it possible to move this thread to suggestions or I have to post a new one there ?

Thanks to all !

Ooops
Metadata >Transfer can be used to renew information that has been added to photos in the past.
Ex Move exif:xpComment to xmp-dc:description
or copy iptc to xmp fields ...

You can also need to copy filename or foldername or any other information into metadata...

First , select the target field with the + , and then select source data with the right arrow.

The aim is to copy a data in another one for each selected photo.
