Yes. Go to Tools | Settings | Database and in the Width and Height boxes choose larger values. If you deal with photos, you most probably want a 3:2 ratio (or more rarely 4:3). Save the setting, return back and press Rebuild Thumbnails to update them to the new size. This will rebuild all the thumbs in the catalog (DB). It may take a while. Alternatively if you want to rebuild only a small number of thumbnails, select them in browser and go to View | Rebuild thumbnails.

This will reduce the enlargement factor of the thumbs which gives you the impression of 'fuzziness'.

is there a way to increase the height of that thumbnail row itself and how many thumbnails it shows (to make them bigger)?

Oh, this is what you meant. I thought it. Well, somewhat. It is what I consider a half-bug.

The FullScreen window takes the size of the thumbnails only when the window is created.

To see it in action:

1. Restart XnView MP
2. Make the thumbs in browser very small
3. Go to FullScreen. Now you should see the thumbnail row "very small" (thumbs have the same size with the ones from the browser - see step 2)
4. Exit FullScreen (press Esc)
5. Make the thumbs in browser very large
6. Enter FullScreen.

Expected:

The thumbnail row should have the thumbs at the size of the ones from step 5

Actual:

The thumbnail row has the thumbs at the size of the ones from step 2

Notes:

If you restart the program now and enter again in FullScreen mode you'll see the thumbnail row having the thumbs at the size of the ones from step 5
