Email made public??

Does this forum really set user email addresses publicly available to other users? I saw the option to send an email in my public user page, and promptly turned that feature off in my account settings. This should definitely NOT be the default setting for new accounts. Absolutely ridiculous.

That isn't a justification for poor privacy practices. Other people doing the wrong thing doesn't make it okay.

If using the option to send an email to another forum member reveals the sender's email address, as I think it does, this is an issue you might reasonably raise on the phpBB forum, as that popular forum platform is used not only by xnview but also by many other forums. I would think that it might be possible to avoid exposing the sender's address at the expense of greater software complexity?

Easy to register, please report back if you very reasonably raise the issue there...
