Suggestion: File pre-selection

Post by kaminajihat »

In the "Input" tab, 'when the user adds a folder, all image files are automatically added for conversion.

An interesting resource for XNConverter would be the pre-selection of files to be converted, where the user chooses which types of images will be selected for the "Input" tab.

This is useful, as it may happen that several files in this folder are already in the desired format and the user does not want to re-convert them to the format in which they are already found.

Ex:
Inside a folder there are thousands of tiff, bmp, png, jpg and webp images.
The goal is to convert the entire contents of the folder to ".webp".
With the pre-selection the user disables the addition of ".webp" files in the "input" tab (since these files are already in the format he wants), resulting in the addition of all other images to conversion.

The 'quick search' also works.
However, if there are tens of thousands of images, it is a bit "heavy" for the machine to first add all of them to the program's list (step 1), and then filter the desired extensions through the "quick search" (step 2).
It is as if the user walked two steps knowing that he would be forced to take one back.
Or: the person had to go around the entire block to reach a location, knowing that he could have simply turned the corner.

Pre-selection would simplify the whole process to just 1 step.

Sorry for the delay in reply.
