Use XnConvert only for renaming?

I'm thinking about the usage of XnConvert just for renaming - also for non-image files like TXT, DOC, PDF .... In some cases this can be helpful, when I want to clean up (rename) an entire project with same settings.

At the moment it reports "No image file!" - and does nothing.
Or: I just want to rename images, but not save them anyway ...

Can it be done yet and now?
Or would this be a great feature-enhancement-request?

because I know XnConvert, its freeware - and I don't know MP? (Just tested it very shortly a few years ago..)

Search for a program called Advanced Renamer. It is free and will rename any amount of files you like

Thanks, but I don't search a rename-program for itself (there are some great solutions out there ..)

I need a
- image converter
- with renaming function
- and in only a few cases just the renaming function without conversion

(The users are on medium level, so I can not install to much different software ..)
