Error outputting to DDS format

Post by XnConvertDoesntWork »

Hi all, simply trying to convert (literally what this program is supposedly made for) some PNG's to DDS' and maintain the original size. Instead I get the result with this weird duplication thing going on.

I've even retried it adding an action to resize the canvas to the original aspect size and it still changes the size of my image and adds the weird duplicate on the right.

Any help would be appreciated as I've had to create an account just to post this...

You're not using the 'Hot folder' option on the Input tab, are you?

What Actions did you originally have on the 'Actions' tab?

Otherwise, could you please explain in a little more detail and if possible post an example input and output file...

When I click "Hot Folders" the tab is empty, should I add a folder or leave it empty?

Initially I had "Actions 0/0" and this resizing and weird glitch effect still occurs.

Attached is 1 of the pngs and the corresponding DDS.

The "Before" and "After" tabs seem to show the correct images but when it's time to actually go it saves as something totally different.

Unable to attach a DDS so I uploaded here: https://www.filehosting.org/file/detail ... _00000.dds

You can ignore 'Hot folders', when I first saw the number of images in the folders I wondered if you might be getting a feedback effect that can occur when output images are placed in a nominated 'Hot folder'.

I've just done a quick test converting a JPEG into a DDS with no actions selected, and the resulting image had a black band at the bottom, so looks like an XnConvert DDS error.

Maybe Pierre can take a look using your file above when he has time...

Huh... So there's nothing I can do? XnConvert can not in fact convert PNG to DDS?

That seems to be the case at present, but although XnView software supports reading a very large number of formats, writing to a format normally requires an existing available plug-in. In addition, some formats have a number of versions as they have evolved, so in practice it may be possible to write to some, but not all, versions...

Pierre?
