A subtle bug about image displayed on XnView MP 0.53

Post by Matthew Wai »

Please copy and paste the following images to your computer.
The link to Image 1
The link to Image 2

My system is Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bits. Image 2 is a resized version of Image 1.
On XnView for Windows (as well as my other image viewers), the two images look exactly the same while their size fits the window.
On XnView MP 0.53, they look subtly different while repeated pressing the Page Up and Page Down keys, which causes repeated changing between two images.
I can elaberate on the differences if you fail to perceive.

Do those subtle differences count as a bug which should be fixed?

Welcome to the forum, Matthew Wai.
:bugconfirmed: I believe this has to do with a known bug.

I agree that two bugs correlate. And I guess the abovesaid differences may signify that images shown on XnView MP are subtly different from those on other image viewers containing no such bugs. I hope the author of XnView will take it seriously.
I appreciate XnTriq's animated gif image, showing the differences.

Hello,
I don't think so, ... but I think you have to make a new test to see. (was a round error ... so ???)

A long-standing bug.

More than two years ago, in the above topic, I reported a subtle bug.
I am now using XnView MP 0.76 on Windows 10 Home Edition 64-bit, and the same bug remains there.
Is it impossible to fix?

I've just downloaded the two images and tried to reproduce the problem. In XnView 0.76 I could see a slight difference. In XnView 0.84 there is no difference when switching between them. From my poing of view this bug is fixed.

Could you please try and also confirm the bug fix, Matthew?
