Name numeric problem

Post by ckv »

Name numeric sort was improved for beta3, but the sort doesn't work properly with this set of files folders.

Oddly, if you delete one of the folders or rename the files (e.g. to Test.png and test2. png), the sort starts to work again.

Yes, and seven empty folders. Did you extract the full zip?

The files are in wrong order with name numeric sort. File m.png should come before m2.png, but it doesn't. You can add more files with names m3.png, m4.png... and file m.png will change position.

E.g. If you add up to m5.png m.png will come after m4.png.

I reuploaded the zip with 5 files and 7 folders. The sort problem should be more obvious now.

I've tested, and m.png is always before m2.png

:) Hello !

• To get the full natural sorting, you need IE 6 at least installed in your PC…
- I wrote messages about this, just search with :
SortUpper=3 as the keyword… ;)

• Right, I can confirm, same here -both in XnView and TC- with the ckv's test stuff…

Bummer, I can reproduce the problem with Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

Here's link for INI file I used, but I don't think it makes a difference. I used fresh ini for my tests.

This problem got even more strange, when I noticed that sorting works when the test folder is in my USB flash drive. The only difference I can think of between the USB flash drive and my hard drive is that USB flash drive is FAT32 and hard drive is NTFS. But this is just probably distracting from the real issue. :mrgreen:

Not sure - it might be the real problem already.
