Both files contains comments/captions.
But only after resave with Photoshop, XnViewMP displays them.
I used versions from 1.4.0 to the latest 1.6.2.
I understand, that it is a problem with position of tag inside image, but windows explorer recognizes it correctly..
i need to sort images by comments/caption, how to fix this?
Thanks!

Re: problem with dispalying comments/caption
One workaround I found is to use a tool like Exif Pilot or ExifTool to edit the comment/caption tags directly. Sometimes, XnViewMP doesn't read them correctly, but if you manually update the tags, it should help you sort your images based on comments/captions.

yes, i know the tools. exiftool is a great for mass meta read/write.
i like xn, my main viewer\sorter\editor. it's developing regularly, growing up, has a large community and skilled author.

The image file not written by PS, has no IPTC metadata and store 'Note: Wolff' in 'EXIF:Image Description' not in 'IPTC:Cpation'

Re: problem with dispalying comments/caption
152342 is an "original" file, written by phone software. windows explorer reads metadata. xn doesnt.
152630 was opened in PS, then just only saved. windows explorer reads metadata. so does xn. PS copied metedata to IPTC:Caption and XMP:Description
ok, can you add an ability to display EXIF:Image Description. And do you plan to add XMP tags?
