1.5.5: No video thumbnails in macOS
XnView: MP 1.5.5 - 64 bit
OS: macOS Ventura 13.5.1 - arm64
Similar to a fixed bug 1.5.4 Barely any video thumbnails
Basically, neither of my videos show thumbnails. Photos show thumbnails without issues.
Effect: Usability decreases since user has to click on each video to understand what's in it.
To reproduce:
1. Open XnView: MP
2. Navigate to a folder with videofiles
3. Observe no thumbnails
Actual behaviour (bug): No thumbnails displayed for videofiles
Expected behaviour: Thumbnails displayed for videofiles as first frame, like it happens in preview window upon clicking on the video.
Please see how it looks for me: My thumbnail Misc settings are below: Not sure if it's related, but my XNView gives me this upon opening: My Catalog settings are below: I have tried the "Rebuild Thumbnails" button, but it did not help.
Thank you very much for your help in advance!

It's all default there, I don't recall changing anything. Here is how it looks:

I am sorry, I must have forgotten that I've changed it - I now recall after checking custom folder. Changed it back to User, now it looks like this: I then restarted the app. Catalog error is now gone, but thumbnails are still not showing. I went to Browser->Catalog and rebuild the thumbnails. Still the same issue. Please advise. Thank you.

What do you have in Settings>File list>Custom filter?

Re: 1.5.5: No video thumbnails in macOS
It might have been my attempt to launch system player on double-click. But frankly I don't remember setting that. I tried to find that option to toggle, but could not find it in preferences. could you please tell me where it is?

Re: 1.5.5: No video thumbnails in macOS
this setting is used to use OS video engine to play video files (some users need it). It's better to use internal video engine, else video thumbnails is disabled.

Re: 1.5.5: No video thumbnails in macOS
This is perfect, I just manually set it to `false` and now I can see the thumbnails: Also, I have checked that in both cases (whether useInternalVideoPlayer is true/false) a double-click opens video in the XnView tab, i.e. internal player. So it really only affects thumbnails. (UPDATE: just saw your comment about internal engine, it makes sense) Would probably be nice to have an opportunity to always see thumbnails using internal player, but have an option to use double-click as "Open with associated program" (which is currently available via right-click menu). But it's very minor thing.
Thank you for your help, I'm very glad thumbnails are finally working! From my point of view you can close this thread. Thank you again and please keep up the good work, your app is amazing and very useful! I reminds me cam2pc app from the old Windows XP days Frankly, I hate that iPhotos... besides other awful things it ruined/corrupted lot of my photos, so THANK YOU for a great alternative!
