Whole screen flickers when deleting a picture in fullscreen
Since version 1.5.3 (I went from 1.5.0 to 1.5.3), the screen flickers when viewing an image in full screen and then trying to delete it with the delete key. This flickering occurs before the delete dialogue appears. I find this annoying because it switches back and forth between light and dark.
It also happens from time to time that the screen goes completely black when closing the dialog.
Unfortunately, I can't find version 1.5.0 anymore, otherwise I would have checked again to see if it's not a Windows problem.

Thank you. I was able to confirm that it does not behave like this in 1.5.0.

I can't reproduce, you start XnView MP, select a file in browser, F11 and delete it?

No crash dialog.
Win10
I don't have that when there is another window on top, like a video.

Re: Whole screen flickers when deleting a picture in fullscreen
I am a bit shocked that you ask me to publish my xnview.ini here without pointing out that it contains highly sensitive private data. This should never be done by a board moderator. Also I don't know of any export function to filter out sensitive data like history in Xnview. And private messages don't seem to allow attachments.
However, I have attached a video that shows this behavior. The first time, just before the delete dialog appears, the Xnview browser is visible for a short moment. After several times of canceling the dialog, the screen remains black at the end. But only until I perform a new action.

Re: Whole screen flickers when deleting a picture in fullscreen
You can send your xnview.ini to Pierre as an email attachment, that or a download link is the usual procedure, if you are prepared to allow him to view it...
The email address can be found on this site home page link.
Does an .ini file actually contain anything particularly sensitive, rather than basically just settings? If yours does, you could easily open it in a text editor and delete those entries.

Re: Whole screen flickers when deleting a picture in fullscreen
I have created a new xnview.ini. There I can not reproduce the behavior. So I copied step by step my xnview.ini into the new one and found the relevant parameter:
selectOnEnterFolder=true
When it is set to false, the behavior does not occur.
Settings also contain directory and setting names in several places, which can include names of people, for example.

You can send your .ini by PM
In a folder with 2 jpeg files, do you reproduce it? It's by using Browser>F11>Delete?

Re: Whole screen flickers when deleting a picture in fullscreen
It appears that there are other factors required to reproduce this behavior. My initial test was apparently not detailed enough. The "selectOnEnterFolder" setting is just one of them.
It is sufficient to have one image (format not important) in the directory. However, it also seems to require that XnView has previously tried to read a videos metadata. So I recommend putting a video, similar to the one I uploaded in this thread, in the directory and renaming it so that it appears at the top of the browser. Then, it's best to open XnView directly from Windows File Explorer via file association to open the image in full screen mode (Settings > Startup > Open: Browser-Fullscreen). After that the behavior occurs in every directory until you close XnView again. But initially it seems to be important how XnView is opened. A very unpleasant bug to reproduce. But I can reproduce it on other computer, too.
I have sent my XnView.ini to the email address provided.

Did you open the image with the file association via Windows Explorer in full screen without launching XnView manually first?
