Windows11 (22H2), display resolution 3840x2160, win scaling 150%
Viewer
XnViewMP/Classic opens RAW files as 256x256x24, as there is no dialog to set its options (see ps example).
Or am I missing something here?
To reproduce:
1. run clean portable XnViewMP
2. open any image (eg. jpg 3264x2448x24)
3. CTRL+SHIFT+S to Save as
4. select RAW and save
5. open RAW file (default settings for raw read: 256x256x24)
Issue A
XnViewMP/Classic previews and opens it as 256x256x24
Issue B
after ~5seconds viewer will open previous file in folder (if any exists).
If there are no files before RAW in folder, it will stay openned
Issue C
- C1
6. change RAW read settings to correct ones (once you already opened RAW with incorrect settings), press OK
7. press CTRL+R to reload image
tab become <empty>
- C2
4. change RAW read settings (before opening RAW), press OK
5. open RAW
it opens correctly
6. press CTRL+R multiple times
tab become <empty>
Suggestion
Photoshop opens file correctly with right manually entered values, so maybe adding similar dialog will help

Less commonly, raw may also refer to a generic image file format containing only pixel color values. For example, "Photoshop Raw" files (.raw) contain 8-bits-per-channel RGB data in top-to-bottom, left-to-right pixel order. Dimensions must be input manually when such files are re-opened, or a square image is assumed. Due to its simplicity, this format is very open and compatible, though limited by its lack of metadata and run-length encoding. Especially in photography and graphic design, where color management and extended gamuts are important, and large images are common.
