1.4.5 Thumbnails not updating after changes made in XnView

Hello, a while ago all thumbnails for photos/drawings (basic jpgs and pngs) stopped updating when I edit them in XnView. For example rotating them or cropping keeps the old thumbnail, but editing the same way in photoshop does change it. Only I mostly do it in XnView so it's bothersome...
Doing a copy/paste action makes the thumbnail change btw, but I don't wanna do that and change the name and delete original file everytime.

I looked thru the forum here and tried switching different things in options, but nothing seems to work! I even downloaded older version, nope. I have no idea what could cause it because before it worked just fine, after every edit and save thumbnails would immediately refresh. Any ideas? Thanks!

really strange, do you have tried 'View>Rebuild Thumbnails'?

Yep, also clearing whole catalouge of minatures, then editing photos and clearing it again to see if it loads again correctly, but it doesn't. From what I understand it's some sort of cache issue? It surprises me that they only load correctly when I create a new copy of the file. Idk, I switched all possible settings connected to it, no luck.
I have another program as well for minatures, sage thumbs for building psd ones, but I uninstalled that one too when this problem appeared and nothing changed (also it worked together fine before).

Here you go, the photo is rotated horizontally and cropped. I added the screenshot of how the thumbnail looks for me. Oh btw! When I view the list of files within the XnView it shows correctly. So it's a purely outside of the program issue.

how do you see it outside XnView?

the first photo is how it looks on my desktop and in any open window, any type of preview size.

i don't understand, in XnView the file looks good, but the screenshot of your desktop it looks good too

Maybe this wasn't clear enough of a screenshot so I will show you a much clearer example. Happens every time I edit sth in xnview, doesn't change when refreshing or closing window, nor after cleaning or refreshing thumbnails in xnview settings.

do you have Settings>General>Keep original date/time file saving?

yes all the options are checked under it

Perhaps windows doesn't detect file change, unset it

Wait that actually fixed the problem! But what are the consequences of unchecking it? Will I lose some sort of metadata when editing pics now?

No, the file's date will change

I see, that's not too bad, but do you have any idea why windows suddenly stopped recognising the changes? Is it a XnView bug or it's some new windows update that messed things up?
