Thanks, I just logged on to edit my last post to include that I am using Linux Mint Cinnamon 20...

Note that it is probably necessary to enable display of hidden files to view the menu I posted.

In some ways this does seem like a possible rights problem, but too technical for me, I just use Linux to avoid using Windows!

Today I managed again to get it working by first uncrossing the recycle bin, then restart xniew and re-cross the recycle bin. For a while it worked, but then the problem was back... :?
I can't imagine why.

The Problem is solved, finally:

In the Linux-Mint-Users board I received this tip:

> Benenne versuchsweise den Ordner ~/.config/xnviewmp um zu z.B.: xnviewmp.alt.
> Starte dann XnViewMP und schau ob du Bilder nun löschen kannst.

English translation:

> Try renaming the folder ~/.config/xnviewmp to e.g.: xnviewmp.alt.
> Then start XnViewMP and see if you can delete images.

And this worked fine!

I was having the same problem on Windows. Xnview would always delete the file without using the recycle bin. I checked the option in preferences but it always just permanently deleted the file. Then I realised what was happening... my images were stored on a USB drive. Windows doesn't use recycle bin for external drives, so not an Xnview problem. Just sharing here for info.

I was very, very pleased, but unfortunatedly not for long:
After a time of correct function the problem is back... ☹️

And are you sure those images are on your main C: drive, not a removable drive?

My Pictures are on a Partition of the main drive, which I can reach as D: out of windows, if I need, or normally out of Linux as a partition drive named "Daten".

In the meanwhile the problem was back, I de- and reinstalled xnview over "Anwendungsverwaltung", now as a flatpak, and then the recycle bin didn't work at all...

Then I deinstalled the flatpak and downloaded and installed xnview MP directly from the xnview website as .deb.

And, helas, the recycle bin worked as it should! :D :D :D

But not for long: A few days after the problem was BACK! :(

NO deleted pictures in the recycle bin.

Does anybody know a solution, please?

Any news on this? Still happening on Flatpak version 1.8.0 - after a while images just stop going to the trash/recycle bin. Happens running Debian Bookworm on multiple systems.
