sub-categories to IPTC/XMP

yes I have found the best way to hope the categories are applied is to select a few photographs, then click in blank space so the keywords can be applied..
If they do not get applied I try selecting and unselecting but they can not be written..

I just did some more testing got excited because quite a few had been applied parent and sub categories correctly,,..

I then created a new parent and subcategory selected a few photographs , did exactly the same steps as before but only the parent gets written to the files and no subcategories..

you means if you have 'automatic apply parent keywords' setting?

yes I have tried with that selected and unselected,.. what I have just tried is updating the exiftool file with the latest,, this seemed a little bit better actually!

BUT i am still having subcategories that are not being recognized. I am going to try subcategories without any blank spaces in the name and also try the iptc encoding format to see if it might help.. thanks

The subcategories in IPTC? Could you send me a sample?

i got 2 questions, easy !

1) where is the help for the "category" set in the "browse" view of xnView ?
2) does anyboy knows about a FREE software that handle Exif keywords to classify and categorize the pictures ?
