It would be quite handy if when using the Save Copy action, the size of the resulting file were appended to the status bar text for 3 seconds (there's plenty of room), e.g. " (Copy saved xxx Kb/Mb)" so that one can glance down to catch it whenever needed.

Well it's just that the ideal place for it is the statusbar, since it would be rather annoying to have it popup anywhere. Typically status bars do get used for all sorts of things related to some action just performed, even showing menu descriptions when you move over a menu item in some programs, and in this instance is directly connected to the image currently viewing...
