There are two core methods of marking pictures (excluding tagging) - rating (1-5) and Label (e.g. Important/Later).
I am lost. I marked a slew of documents CTRL-5 (5 star) and then I go to filter and --- no ratings. Cannot believe I didn't think to test that.
Interestingly if I right-click in the browse (to change) I can click "Rating and Colour" and it shows the ratings at the top and labels below. When I tested the labels - works perfect - only shows me what I selected.
Q1 - So why does the filter option, not include ratings? [Suggestion to add this please]
Q2 - Based on the filter not including the ratings, is there a mass way to convert a 5 star into a label?
SUGGESTION - It would be nice to be able to hold and click more than one label to have multiple. E.g. Red or Blue or Red & Blue.
thanks

Filter by Rating works for me. XnView MP v1.6.5 on Win11. Are you sure that the stars appear on your thumbnail pane?

Re: Filter by Rating v. Labels
I just updated to 1.65
Sample - top LEFT is marked with CTRL-5 (5 star) When I click on filter by (browser) there is no star option: Under menu > view
> Filter by identical to browse above
> The ability to select the ratings is greyed out thanks

A, ok. Thanks a lot!
I understand now.
Go to menu View > Panels > Catalog Filter ...and use THAT filter. It is a panel which should be on your screen somewhere.
Yes, I agree, Pierre should update the Quick Filter to also include the stars Ratings in it.

Amazing! This should be „ON” by default.
Definitely NOT discoverable.

THanks both - yes the ratings I was able to get that to work with user0 response and agree it probably should be on by default.
If you have it on by default and don't want it - there could be a hover message that says "Settings>Browser>Toolbar>[x] Ratings to disable"
Not sure how it would look with smaller screens but ... most are going to have somewhat larger screens than years ago.
"Catalog Filter" it was enabled already - I will investigate that further.
cheers!
