Hi Pierre
It would be nice to have another option in Settings/View/Auto image size similar to fit image to window but with a negative offset.
The use case for this is simple: I mostly use XNViewMP for cropping of images, and when you want to crop an image from either side, you have to scale it down a little bit so a margin appears between the image and the windows border so you can place mouse cursor and start the crop bracket.
The proposed "fit to windows with n% margin" should automatically create a n% margin between the image and the windows border.
Hope this makes any sense.

Totally agree! It doesn't look nice when the image goes ALL the way to the edge, I want there to be a margin / padding for full screen "fit image to window"

Re: Auto image size - Fit image with an offset
A HUGE +1 for this.
In all reality, an image viewer should always maintain a margin between the edge of the image and the edge of the window. This is vital for simply correctly viewing the image, without the interference of the fused edges.
Some people nonetheless prefer that the image uses the entire window. So, yes, this should be available is an option, that can be set as a default.
For that matter, this has already been suggested in the past... by me
