Will you include Leptpon encoder/decoder? AKA "Dropbox jpeg"

Post by Jou »

Well, dropbox released their "save average of 22% on .jpeg with bit-exact correct result upon decoding"
https://blogs.dropbox.com/tech/2016/07/ ... -at-15mbs/
https://github.com/dropbox/lepton

XnViewMP would be the best place to integrate it for a mass-recode job, I cannot imagine any other program being a better place to include it first.
Gaming in 4k / 6k / 8k / 15k / 16k? Yes! https://joumxyzptlk.de

Amen to that. I just compiled lepton, tried it on some of my regular jpeg photography files and it does what it says it does. You could argue "hd space is cheap", but I still think there's no need to waste space, of course esp. when archiving or transmitting files. It would be great to have it included straight away in a picture viewer, as with other advanced image formats the usability hassle and lack of software support is a reason they aren't used a lot.
