delete a selection from picture

when I'm selecting an area in a picture and remove it by using the "Del-Key", the space behind is always black.
I would expect, that this removed selection would have the color of the chosen background-color.
But changing the background-color (Edit --> Background-color) have no effect.
When I'm remember right, in XnView-classic this was possible.

A known bug, should be fixed in the next version.

Also it would ve very useful if delete the selection automatically and immediately after select an area.
