File associations on linux

Post by warvariuc »

Please add file associations to the shipped .desktop file like this:

Code: Select all

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=XnView Multi Platform
GenericName=XnViewMP
Comment=Graphic viewer, browser, converter
Exec=xnview %U
TryExec=xnview
Terminal=false
Icon=/opt/XnView/xnview.png
Categories=Graphics;
StartupNotify=true
MimeType=image/bmp;image/jpeg;image/png;image/tiff;image/gif;
Because even if I install XnView using a deb file, and the application is in the application menu, I cannot find XnView among application suggested to open image files.

More info on mime file associations here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/16580/wh ... ons-stored

Hi Pierre! Can we try one more time to add the file associations upon installation?

I still have this problem of missing file association with XnViewMP under Linux Mint. Can you fix that?
