GUI - View Tab

Some questions about xnview MP :-)

In XnView MP, you have 2 tabs by default.
Browser & View, if you select one thumbnail, View becomes active, and you can view the picture. If you change the file by file prev/next in THIS view, the browser will change the current thumbnail too. Browser and THIS view are always synchronised.
You can open more views with 'open in a new tab'
For me it's better for basic users to always have only ONE view!

In XnView win, there is many problems with that.

BUT View tab seems to be not so good, seems to be confusing (for me too).

So perhaps a better solution will be to hide this VIEW tab, and use it only when you click or press enter on a thumb.

What do you think?
I can add too a setting to open always a new tab, but here if have no more the synchronisation!

Many Image browser use only 1 view window ( it's less complicated :-) )

PS: Compare, ... will use TAB too, but i'll add an option to disabled TAB, and use independant window for each browser/window/...

For me, it's a good idea to hide this tab as option (and keep the synchronisation).

Totally Agree.
a Tag which you can't select is a broken tab.
it should always be hidden (and not as an option) if the viewer buffer is empty.

I agree too, also option to disable tabs completely would be useful - it might be even enabled by default - for two tabs it's not needed.

Yeah, sorry, I thought it's probably possible, but I was not sure, I'm testing the new Windows beta version only, now.

Anyway, tabs should be disabled by default IMO, hope they are not disabled already, I'm not sure if I have the latest version.

It would be better, by default, to disable this interactive View tab if any thumbnail is selected, so show it only if a thumbnail is selected.
so add 3 options for all cases:
1-by default-)show it only if a thumbnail is selected
2-)never show the interactive View tab (like the windows 1.94 version)
3-)always keep the interactive View tab (like now)

But for me 2 options are enough:
1-by default-)show it only if a thumbnail is selected
2-)never show the interactive View tab (like the windows 1.94 version)

OK, I understand a little better now, but how does this improve on the already functioning preview in the Browser?

If the distinction is that this new tab provides (or will provide) more functionality than the preview, Occam's Razor suggests that simply adding that functionality to the preview itself would be superior.
For me it's better for basic users to always have only ONE view!
If the issue is that "beginners" prefer only one image view (that is: "multiple views are confusing to beginners", which I don't necessarily agree with), then make tabs OFF the install default. Perhaps it already is the default...? (I never install from the EXE.)

Hmmm. Perhaps I don't "understand a little better now" after all...

More explanation of typical use and demonstrable benefit might help.
