XnView Multi Platform - alpha 0.001
Here is the first demo of my new project "XnView MP" (XnView Multi Platform) that will replace current "XnView for *nix" & "XnView for MacOSX".
Currently you have a basic browser with a basic viewer, DB caching, labels & colors editing, ...
I wasn't able to find time to work on this project last month, but next 3 months will be for it!
My first goal is to have the same features as current "XnView for *nix" with some features of XnView win 1.92
Key features (final version):
* Same features as XnView 1.92
* Unicode support
* Internal 16/32 bits per component support
* Easier handling of native language support (text based files)
* Better database
You can download XnView MP alpha 0.001 here:
MacOSX: ftp://ftp2.xnview.com/xnview/misc/XnViewMP-mac.tgz
Linux: ftp://ftp2.xnview.com/xnview/misc/XnViewMP-linux.tgz
Windows: ftp://ftp2.xnview.com/xnview/misc/XnViewMP-win.zip
Please note that this alpha version's purpose is to give you a first impression. Please do not report bugs, yet.

Good start and…
Pierre
Hello !
• Indeed, a good start to a new design ! Thanks !
- A hitch at the captions of the thumbnails for my short succinct try :
- However, the transparency IS rendered, and the look is better than the current 1.92…
• With a second try, bad trick from Win :
Error message telling that the app. can't start because the QtCore4.dll is not found !
- I copied the two DLLs of the package from the dir. into <Windows\System32> then that worked again…

• Hi !
- Paul-“Ouistiti” and I thought to propose a prototype to start that, but since we have this one…

• Hi !
• It's indeed a nice test bench to change the current language-system, I support strongly !…Unicode support and easier translation using textual language files will open new opportunities. …

Horrible !
Pierre
Too bad. You miss an opportunity to experiment and save time…
- Finally, I guess I'll die without seeing text files…
- I gave up the translation of several programmes because that…

- These thingies spread-sheet_like and similar are a mast in the b** !… but there is a program with QT to translate on the fly the sentences

New Version for Mac and Unix
I am waiting with baited breath... I really enjoy using XnView. The old version is great. I use it on Solaris and Mac OSX.
Keep up the excellent work. Kudos to you!

Hi,
I wanted to try the Linux version, but I'm getting this error:
I extracted the archive to /bin and the file libQtGui.so.4 is present there. What did I wrong?
I wanted to try the Linux version, but I'm getting this error:
Code: Select all

I extracted it into a user directory, and successfully launched it with this command: "sh xnview.sh"vlada wrote:Hi,

When simply opening a folder that contains a *.DNG image-file, the programme crashes immediately
with the lovely usual Bill's message…
Sample available Here
Note : These .DNG files work OK in 1.92

Confirmed, and…
ouistiti
Hello Paul !
• Confirmed here under Win XP-Pro SP1 (FR).
Aside : The sorting of the tree is a pain in the neck currently, it places the folders which the names begin
with an accented character at the end of each root-dir.
Friendly,
Claude

I have to admit that I didn't know what to expect, when Pierre first announced his plans for a cross-platform version of XnView. I immediately thought of Inkscape's GTK-based interface, which I'm not very fond of.
Even after realizing that Pierre had chosen to go the QT route, I remained sceptical: Versions 4, 5 and 6 of Photoshop Elements, which were “built using Trolltech development tools”, won't run on Windows 2000.
But now that I've had a chance to test-drive this early alpha, all my doubts have evaporated like morning dew!

Great! Thanks, Pierre!
For me, Alpha 0.001 works under: MacMini-PPC/OSX10.4.11
Does NOT work under: iBook-PPC/OSX10.3.9//crashes immediately upon double-clicking the icon
Addition: The option-bars "FILE" dialogue appears to be empty (nothing to choose from). Is that correct?
The nag: The sidebars feel a bit "bloated, with overall "wasted" space.
Regardless to that: Cool stuff!
