NConvert 7.182 and image types

Post by herb »

Hello Pierre

Doing the test for NConvert 7.182 (a private version when posting this)
see: viewtopic.php?f=57&t=47413
I have seen that XnViewMP supports also e.g. *.gpr and *.exr images, which are NOT supported by NConvert.

*.gpr
I copied the gpr.dll (used by XnViewMP) into plugin directory of NConvert and have seen that NConvert does also support this image format.
Please package this dll into the next release of NConvert.

*.exr
This image format is supported by XnViewMP but NOT by NConvert.
It would be great when NConvert also supports all formats that XnViewMP does.

Thanks in advance
Best regards

Hello Pierre,

good idea, but sorry: also with OpenExr.dll in its plugin directory, NConvert does not convert a *.exr image.

I tried the same for *.flif images and it is working, when libflif.dll is inside plugins

Best regards

Hello Pierre,

thanks for all the advices. Very helpful.
I copied all necessary *.dll from XnViewMP plugins directory into NConvert plugins.

Now NConvert supports also *.exr images;
BUT it does NOT support surrogates in filename of a *.exr image.

Can you please enhance NConvert to also support surrogates for *.exr
Thanks in advance

Best regards

Hello Pierre,

please let me explain what I did:
Please see also post "Question to NConvert and Windows short filenames" viewtopic.php?f=57&t=47413
Here I performed tests with filenames that contain Ascii-characters, chinese-characters and also unicode characters that need surrogate pairs in Windows UTF16 encoding.

Then I have seen that XNViewMP 1.712 does support also some image-formats that NConvert does not support:
does not support means: the plugins are not "released" in the *.zip file for NConvert 7.182 (your private version sent to me)
I did not perform tests using Windows short filenames.

I copied libflif.dll and also gpr.dll from XnViewMP plugins into NConvert plugins directory.
Result is: NConvert supports *.flif and also *.gpr images - also for filenames that contain surrogate pairs.

With your help/advice I copied the necessary *.dll for exr images also in NConvert plugin directory.
But *.exr images are only supported for filenames that contain only Ascii characters.
(Additional info: also XnViewMP does only support filenames with Ascii-characters only).

Thanks for your help in advance
Best regards
herb

Edit:
Writing this post I did a mistake concerning *.flif images.
Correct is: NConvert supports *.flif images only with filenames that contain only Ascii characters.
