Lossless conversion of EPS to JPEG (RGB)

Post by james.stewart »

Hi everybody,

we are interested in the commercial use of NConvert to convert TIFF(CMYK) and EPS to JPEG(RGB).

The conversion of TIFF works fine.

Unfortunately the conversion of EPS to JPEG does not result in the desired quality, but I guess that's due to the fact that we did not use the right parameters.

Here is how the original and converted images look like:
http://nothing.zapto.org/nconvert/

The results (JPEG RGB) were created with the following call of nconvert:

nconvert -out jpeg -ctype rgb -o after_Regiestuhl.jpg before_Regiestuhl.eps

1) Could anyone of you specialst have a look at the EPS and the resulting JPEG and tell my which parameters we should have used to get a JPEG that does not look so faded. Best case: a JPEG with colors completely equaling the colors of the original EPS!

2) Is there an option in NConvert to provide the desired RGB-Profile, for instance by specifying an ICC-file?

Any hints are highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help! Best regards, Jan

No currently nconvert doesn't use ICC profile

Hi and thanks for the quick reply!

As long as nconvert does not support ICC-profiles we unfortunately cannot use it ;-(

As soon as you have implemented the feature to provide a source- and a target-ICC-profile (source-profile could also be the embedded profile) I would be happy to receive an info, because we would most likela purchase nconvert then!

best, jan
