The xnview web site has language specific sites. It would not be incredibly difficult to add something like a ?lang=en (or fr or de) to the end of each forum link - though that wouldn't help with people whose favorites direct to it.

This presupposes that phpbb has support for languages from the url, somehow. If not, that means hacking the forum code, and that's just plain evil. phpbb is even worse than vbulletin.

:) Hello !

• phpBB might support a language-string in the URL…

• Today, I join the Club, because I've set the forum here in “Opera” as a test, and I got the language to log-in as… Italian !
- Fortunately, it's not too hard for me to understand…
However, I notice that I never got a wrong language before using IE6¦Maxthon interface…

depending on the country [...] The IP address gives
NO!!! Don't EVER use IP address to tell which language the user wants to browse in. I HATE it more than anything. Browser provides the preferred language already and much more reliably AND faster than any IP scan ever could.

Accept-Language in the HTTP header is the one you should use, not some hack.

P.S. Sorry for resurrecting the dead.

After fiddling around for some hours (I'm not deep in the phpBB source) I think I've found the problem. :-) Sorry if this problem had been around for so long but manually searching the phpBB support forum and the phpBB code for problems isn't much fun.
