1.95 b1: Import Clipboard Toolbar Button

Post by ckit »

OMG, is this screwed!

1. Add "Import Clipboard" button to Browser
2. Click Ok
3. End result, XnView adds a blank space to the toolbar instead!

and I can't even get the Export icon to work either, going to be a long beta this one :(

Works, but…

:) Hi Chris !

• I added the button following the normal steps, it's set OK in the browser tool-bar here.

• However :
- It's greyed out prior (normal, the clipboard is empty), but remains greyed
when you copy an image from a displayed thumb-nail.
- Switching to View, the same icon is greyed out still.
- Copying any image (i.e. capture a window via Alt+PrintScreen while XnView is closed) then starting XnView again,
the icon is displayed normally and works to paste the contains of the clipboard - in View, indeed :

- Let's notice that this defect (when one copies some image “on the spot”) is there for a long while (1.90 ß… or so)

I have the same problem...

Tried to switch the icon from the one I posted here to the new Mezich icon (in the "internal" set), but the button disappears entirely. Restoring my icon restores the button, also.

That suggests that the internal icon mapping mechanism is broken, but that external icons can be be assigned.

:) Hello John !
Tried to switch the icon from the one I posted here to the new Mezich icon (in the "internal" set), …
• But the ImportClipboard function has no icon on the main bitmap ! It needs always an external one … :P
… and there is no icon either in the EXE for this function.
- Same for Export

Toolbar button for any modes (Basic, View or Browser)
Everytime I choose Export from the dropdown list, I get no icon at all!

Update:
I just noticed that "Import Clipboard" button icon is missing if you choose Mezich skin over the default version of it.

Ghosts don't display

Post by Clo »

 ckit

:) Hello !

• Like I said already to John, there is neither an "Export" nor an "Import Clipboard" image in the <main.bmp>
of any skin, you need always an external standalone *.ico or one from an ICL…
- That I get here in the browser (with indeed extra external icons) :

Pendulum & crystal bowl…

:) Hello !

• Sorry, I didn't receive any notice from you telling that you enlarged the main bitmap up to 34 motives (?),
and changed the version with "4"…
- I'll update my own skins as soon as I'll have dug out the location of the added element¦s…

• Anyway, the needed extra *.ico are still missing in the most skins (I provide a minimal set with mine, though).

Issue with added icons…

Post by Clo »

 All

:) Hello !

• I spent some days to work on the new added icons of the main skin-bitmap, had some mails with Pierre,
and finally noticed that follows :

1. The new bitmap contains forty-five motives, hence numbered from zero (0) up to forty-four (44).
- With regard to the old (version 3) bitmap, there are twelve (12) added icons from #33 (Rotate left) to #44 (Save only).
- However, in the What's new, only eleven (11) motives are announced…

33 - Rotate to left

34 - Lock Zoom
35 - Show Grid
36 - Cut
37 - Copy
38 - Paste
39 - Copy to Folder
40 - Move to Folder
41- Compare
42 - Import Clipboard
43 - Redo
44 - Save only
2. When one had already set a button for one of these commands with an external *.ICO,
then whether one removes the path of that icon in the configuration of the tool-bar, the appropriate equivalent motif
is not displayed, one gets a blank icon instead.

- Aside, I wonder that there is not any preview for the motives which are on the main skin bitmap, I would expect to see
at least the position number in the icon field, that should confirm that a motif is existing alright for that button…

3. Currently, one can solve that issue in two ways :

A. Remove totally all buttons for the added motives having *.ICO, and reset them one by one… :(

B. Edit the current *.bar file, and replace the path of the separate *.ICO with the order number
of the corresponding motif on the bitmap, for instance :

¤ Old entry :
button6=E:\XnVIew_190_beta\skins\Clo’s_Project\Ico_plus\import-clip_importer-p·-papiers.ico
cmd6=cmd_ImportClipboard
¤ New entry :
button6=42
cmd6=cmd_ImportClipboard
- Save the file, then all new motives are displayed, I tested it's OK.
• Six updated skins of mine for testing are available to download from HERE
• Hoping this helps…

Jointly, I performed the same tests than Clo and can confirm his observations.

- IMHO, the programme might be able to display the new motives directly when the *.ICO
are removed in the setting-box, without any need to reinstall the buttons or to change the .bar file…

- I agree too that some info is missing to indicate the bitmap motif for the current button one is installing.

- Moreover, we miss a field to set a customized info-text, already requested I guess, and unanswered.

Friendly

Back and worse

Post by Clo »

 Pierre

:) Hello !

• The original bug reported by ckit is now in the “Default” bar (empty main window), and worse :

A. - Add Import Clipboard in the Default bar,
- Normally, the motif being on the bitmap, one could get the icon #42…
- Press OK : Nope ! Not any icon is displayed, not even a blank one !

B. Come back to the buttons settings, add Import Clipboard again, and set an external *.ICO for that button >> OK :
- The button and its icon are displayed alright…

C. A new chosen *.bar file is not saved in the INI, every time to reopen the buttons settings, you have the old *.bar,
not the one you have stated formerly…
