Focus Point Display - Help & Input Required

Post by andrewj »

HI All

There's been a steady stream of requests over the years to have the ability to display the focus point selected by the camera as an overlay on an image. (See, for example https://forum.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=35841 by @trezilla, https://forum.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=33470 by @cyberia and @Octupuss, and https://forum.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=14362 by @plarry and @dosdos59). Pierre hasn't got round to this yet, so I am developing a small utility which can be used alongside XnView/MP to display the point as an overlay in XnView full screen mode, or stand-alone.

I already have this working well for XnView Classic, and with a very small change to MP it will work there as well. If you think this would be useful please can you add your support here: https://forum.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=47746

To carry on developing the utility I need example images. I already have samples for:
  • Panasonic G series
  • Sony Rx series
  • Olympus TG
  • Canon D series and S series
I am now asking for sample images for other camera series. The obvious ones are:
  • Canon M and R
  • Nikon D and Z
  • Sony A
  • Fuji X
What I ideally need is the in-camera JPEG, unmodified, or otherwise the RAW file. A processed JPEG is no good as most processing software strips out the Makernotes which are key to the solution. For each camera I also need an example where the camera was horizontal, and one where it was vertical.

I don't need "good" images in terms of composition or exposure, they just need to have a clear focus point which is not at the centre. The following is a good example (focus is on the dragon's eye):

If you can help, please either upload images here, or DM me with a URL so I can download them. I promise that I will not publish them in any way, they will just be used as test samples.

Thanks
Andrew
