Saving HTML pages with images

Xyzzy - I do have Outlook Express 6 installed although it is not my preffered app, I use the facilities supplied with the BTYahoo browser but that should not make a difference ( should it ? )

I am not computer literate so do not know what Firefox or other such goodies are all about. I have browsed to find information as to what it is and what it does or does not do but there is no info out there!

does it replace my BT Yahoo browser or is it an integrated add on.

I have been to the mozilla site but there is no info' just '' you need this '' or that or the other but not why and why it is better than the standard bolt on bits - is it a complete replacement, does it carry over stored information ie bookmarks etc and will it solve my problem ?

Is there anywhere I can go to read up on the benefits of such items as Firefox, but not to just read about the range of products to download

I am realy confused but thanks for all your help, time and consideration about my plight. The internet is a realy wonderfull system in bringing people together in a common cause and I am extremely grateful to the consideration you guys on this site are giving me.

Firefox, opera, etc are complete browsers, they replace whatever you're currently using. Because of this, they will solve your problem. If you like to use added toolbars (ie the googlebar or yahoo bar), then I suggest firefox (but opera and k-meleon are faster).

Since you are using an IE frontend (your yahoo browser isn't actually a browser, it's just a branded interface for IE), there's a chance that that is the source of your problem. Have you tried using internet explorer itself? If saving pages works fine in IE itself, then another option would be a different frontend (maxthon, avant, AM browser, etc).

If you use a complete browser (firefox, opera, k-meleon), it won't automatically carry over your favorites and such, but you can import your favorites.
If you use a different frontend, all you current favorites, settings, etc will carry over.

so for the first time since buying this computer and going online with the BTYahoo browser I have opened my browser thro IE. As the saying goes -'' RESULT '' sorry to shout but I now have the full facility to save my html pages complete! YIPEEE

Did running IE make it so that you can save pages properly in yahoo now, or only in IE?

only in IE. BTYahoo remains as before but now its being introduced to the recycle bin once I can find a way of saving my bookmarks

That chargeable aspNetMHT Component thingy isn't meant for end users but for software developers who wish to add MHTML functionality to their aplications.
However, one could use — some might say abuse — the online demo as a free service to create MHTML web archives if IE won't let you.

BTYahoo remains as before but now its being introduced to the recycle bin once I can find a way of saving my bookmarks

thanks for that but I found a laborious way of transferring my bookmarks by copy- save my bookmarks pages to FF ( I have 6 of them ? ) opening each one in Firefox, saving them to FF bookmarks and - success. It has allowed me to reorganise the BMs as well

now to learn about FF

Firefox can import favorites. Click on bookmarks->manage then file->import, and choose internet explorer.

thanks for that drahken but I used BTYahoo which is different from Yahoo. Thunderbird carries files across from Yahoo/IE not BTYahoo/IE ????? and consequently only items saved in the Yahoo pages are carried across.

Yes I know it seems mad but BTYahoo has a mind of its own.

I am also having problems gaining access to my emails with Thunderbird because it pops up with ''invalid password contact BTYahoo'' but if I go onto the BTYahoo email system everything works fine. Strange!

If ckit is around thanks for the link but because of the above I am still playing before I move on to it - or should I ignore the problems and move straight to gmail ?

Have you tried import->netscape bookmarks and import->bookmarks file? One of those might be compatible with btyahoo.

You might not be able to access btyahoo's mail from anything other than their website, depending on whether or not you have premium service. If you do have premium, use mail.btinternet.com for both the pop and smtp servers.

there must be a block on the site . I have tried all the suggestions and am blocked by '' access denied'' or '' password invalid '' although I can access my BTYahoo Broadband site normally

Have you tried using your full email address as your login name? Many sites require that (the webpage may add the @site.com part behind the scenes). If you've been doing that, have you tried it without the @site.com part?

If none of that works, then you probably can't access it from a standard email client.

However, there are some email checkers that can access webmail. They can usually only read mail (not reply/send), but they can access almost any web-based email, so long as you can figure out the correct server info for it. I'll see if I can find some.
