Directories inaccessable

Post by iycgtptyarvg »

I cannot access any of my photos. The directories with Chinese characters all contain question marks.
I noticed the same problem when I tried to use Nconvert, which doesn't seem to do anything at all either.
Do I need to change a setting, or is this a bug?

So the normal XnView doesn't support unicode?!?

I'll check out the other XnView.

Ok, I installed XnViewMP and it indeed now works with Chinese characters.

But, when I try to use the xnconvert with command-line parameters in a batch file, it keeps popping up a GUI. What command-line parameter do I need to prevent that?

This is what my nconvert command-line looked like for converting images to jpg:
"C:\Utilities\XnViewMp\Xnconvert\Xnconvert.exe" -out jpeg -q 80 -opthuff -D <selitems>

What do I need to change to achieve the same thing with xnconvert?

You're not confusing XnConvert with the command line utility NConvert, are you?

If you say it like that, then I'm 100% confusing them.

I tried the latest version from your link, but it doesn't work with Chinese characters.
Which nconvert has support for Chinese characters? The one which came with XnView (normal version) didn't work either.

In fact, I tried it with a path name containing only English and it still failed:

Code: Select all

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19045.2846]

E:\Temp\XnViewMp ConvertToJpg test>C:\Utilities\XnViewMP\NConvert\nconvert.exe -out jpeg -q 80 -opthuff -D "C64 3x4.png"
** NCONVERT v7.136 (c) 1991-2022 Pierre-E Gougelet (Jan 23 2023/13:58:10) **

Error: This picture cannot be written using this format (C64 3x4.jpg)
Why?!? Jpg is probably the most used format in the world. The website said it supported 500 file formats, but it doesn't support jpg? How can this be?
