No, if you activate this setting, you can continue to disable "Recognize only by extension" (in next 2.43)Hacker wrote:Does this mean I will have to activate "Recognize only by extension" to solve this?xnview wrote:In next versionwill resolve this issueCode: Select all

OK Pierre, thank you, will test. What does the setting do? Also why do we need a setting to fix what has worked before (and stopped working recently)? I must be missing something.xnview wrote:No, if you activate this setting, you can continue to disable "Recognize only by extension" (in next 2.43)

Is FileListUseExt a UI-less setting, and if so, in which section does it belong?xnview (XnView 2.43) wrote:Unwanted file types shown in Viewer - viewtopic.php?f=36&t=35484

Re: Unwanted file types shown in Viewer
Hi, I'm having the same issue, even with the latest version (Windows 7 64 bit): if, for example, I open images on the desktop and go back/forward, XnView opens the icons in the program shortcuts, or it opens videos even if I excluded them from the list of the files to open.
The only solution is to flag "Recognize only by extension" on.
This issues was not present in the previous versions.
Where should FileListUseExt=1 be put in the ini config file?
