Bug when adding files to a directory and viewing such

Post by AHCarter »

:bug:

Using Agent as my news reader I will sometimes launch a pic individually and have no problem with such. The problem (crash) arises when I have a directory opened in Xnview and add files to it. It usually only happens with alot of files added, not a few, what that magic number is I don't know, though I suppose I could incrementally test it, perhaps at groups of five.

I'm not sure that the cache has anything to do with it or not, as I cleared it just the other day. Just now after I removed all via the dialogue, I exited then opened Windows Explorer and manually deleted the DB files.

It won't do it at 7, but it did it at 10 pics saved. Looks like 7 and below is the magic number as it crashed at 8 pics saved.

Now if Xnview is opened to another directory which I'm not saving to, it won't crash.
Sincerely,
A.H. Carter

Can you give a clearer step-by-step run down of what you are doing?

I'll either already have Xnview opened to a particular folder
(O:\Photos\FooBar) for instance, and having Agent opened will save the attachments (highlight and press "A") to the particular folder (O:\Photos\FooBar). At that magic number, which I believe to be 8 and up, Xnview will crash. If I don't have Xnview at the folder, but another one, it won't crash. Also, IIRC it only happens with thumbnail view on (my default).

Now that's interesting! I'm thinking that as I was just now able to save 19 pics at List view, it must be something about Thumbnail view and perhaps memory or the size of the folder which might account for the crash.

Anyway, here is the report:

Sorry, I can't reproduce this problem without having Forte Agent installed. I'm sure this is combination of Forte Agent and XnView, Forte Agent is locking on to a folder and XnView is crashing on accessing this folder.

Then why doesn't it crash when in any other view? Still as you say it may be a resource conflict or an Agent problem. However, I just got a crash when adding files via a copy to folder via Windows Explorer.
