I have a large collection of family photos and videos that had their EXIF data removed.
Can XnView DISCOVER and re-populate the DATE Taken data back into the EXIF Date field in BULK across all selected photos?
Please advise.

Re: Re-populating date taken in Bulk using XnView?
In some cases, it is possible to retrieve the date taken from other data, such as modification date or file name...
Tell us if you can see a usable date in the properties of your files? If not, it will be impossible to reinvent it
Then XnViewMP (I'm not sure about XnView Classic) will probably be able to copy this data into Exif date taken, sometimes with the help of ExifTool add-on.

Re: Re-populating date taken in Bulk using XnView?
Here is the XnView Classic section of the Forum, but I'm not very familiar with it because I haven't used it for a long time. I was suggesting ideas for XnViewMP which I know better ...
If you can find a right date, ( perhaps file modified date) ,
In Metadata>Change timestamp function, you can use the drop down field to select this source date, and then select exif date taken as target ...
I think XnView Classic provides also a change timestamp menu...
To use the filename as the source date (e.g. photos from WhatsApp), it's more complicated, using the ExifTool add-on in XnViewMP.

If you're new to xnview.com software you should probably take a look at XnView MP, the current software under continuing development in response to user suggestions, with a clean modern interface, full Unicode filename support and also multi-platform Windows, Mac and Linux: the 'MP' stands for multi-platform...
