Text Box under PAINT not working

It seems that this version coupled with the Windows 11 I am using has broken the text box feature. When I attempt to add a text box to an image, the box will display but text will not. I have reinstalled the program 2 times now as well as clear any entries elsewhere in case the program had corrupted.

I have the latest XNView MP and that is OK and not displaying this error. Has this been reported by others and is there a fix? I've used Classic for a long time now and used to the interface so I would like to keep using it while learning MP, especially since some of the menu items have moved about.
