Xnview won't access Android device from PC

Post by jack63ss »

I am trying to use Xnview Classic 2.50.4 to access files on an Android device and it will not open the device. If I click on the device entry in the Tree Pane it just jumps back to the previous selection and nothing happens. Tried this with my Samsung phone and my Amazon Fire tablet with the same result on both. Is this "as designed" or a bug ? If as designed I understand as MS Photos and Media Player do not work either. MS Paint is about the only program that seems to be able access those devices.
Thanks

Same here with XnView MP 0.99.7. You can browse the folder structure but you don't see any files in the XnView broswer. While browsing the folder structure neither the displayed path nor the thumbnails are displayed.
I guess that there's some technical difference/limitation when accessing those devices which prevents that XnView Classic and XnView MP from listing the image files in the brower. Perhaps Pierre, XnTriq, or someone technically sophisticated have a good explanation.

Note:
When using "File > Open..." one can open individual images.

XnView doesn't support MTP protocol.

“Someone technically sophisticated” named helmut already found a workaround a few years ago ;-)
but this solution requires your device to support USB Mass Storage mode.

This is not difficult to do at all, as we have 2 alternative methods to force the Samsung Galaxy S2 to enter in USB mass storage mode after connecting to computer.

Method 1
1 -Enable usb debugging from Menu > Settings > Applications
2 -return to home screen
3 -plug usb cable in
4 -pull down status bar
5-press ‘ connect usb storage’ button

Method 2
Alternatively, without USB debugging enabled (USB debugging must be disabled):

Go to Settings > Wireless & Network > USB utilities and click the button > then (and ONLY then) plug in USB cable

Bonjour Pierre,
pensez-vous implanter cette fonction?
Merci
