One possibility: Use XnView MP which has full Unicode support, an attractive new interface, is under active development, and is also cross-platform.
Other possibility: Consider this possible way to activate better support in XnView Classic: Re: xn-view warning.

What do you mean? Just opening files renamed in Greek language with XnView Classic? or opening files inside folders renamed in Greek language? If so.. there is a fix for that that worked for me right away. Check out --> viewtopic.php?t=38917
