Add Text via filename character position

Hello,

I would like to add parts of the file names with batch editing.
Preferably with indication of the character position. For example, <filename {characters 6 to 20}>.

Is this possible? Possibly via a custom script?

I have not found anything in Xnview. The search here in the forum did not yield any results either.
