Screen capture feature

Hello --
I'm using version 1.37 of XnView -- it's a great program , BTW -- and I've been trying to use the screen capture feature. Other capture utilities I've used have you designate a folder where the captured image is "held" until it can be worked with in, let's say, XnView. When I try to screen capture an Active Window, I am losing the result of the capture -- that is, NOT able to find it after. I tried to do a screen shot, for example , of my Pegasus e-mail desktop, but when I pressed the hot key F12 [per XnView config] I got the function associated with that hotkey in Pegasus, not the capture.

I wrote to you, Pierre, in a private e-mail about this, and I must not have been clear, as you replied that "by default, the capture opens in XnView" -- however, I cannot locate the file in order to open it . . .

Screen capturing is easy:

1.) Start the application you want to capture and open the window you want a screen shot from.

2.) Start XnView

3.) Use menu "Tools->Capture"

4.) In the dialog "Capture setup" make the following settings:

a - You want to capture just the window of an application (Pegasus Mail), so set "Active window" in the "Capture" panel.

b - For all I know Pegasus Mail supports many function keys. To make sure that the capture is triggered, use "Delay" as method for capturing. This means, that after a specific delay the capture is made.

c - For now, you want to open the captured screen in XnView, so use "Open in XnView" in the "Save" panel.

5.) Start the Capturing by pressing the "OK" button.

6.) Make the window you want to capture the active window. You do this by just clicking in the title bar of the (Pegasus Mail) window.

7.) Wait a little bit. After few more seconds, the delay is elapsed and XnView will take the screen shot. The screen shot will open in XnView as an image with the name <capture1>.

8.) You now can modify and/or save the image in the format you like.

That's it. Once you have your first screen shot, you can play with the options and settings in the capture dialog. For example you can make multiple screen shots at once or save the screen shot as a file rather than opening it in XnView.
