I have read as much as I can but still can't make it work. I have 63,000 photos from multiple cameras over 12 years.
| need to;
1. Reset the EXIF on all and then
2. Rotate them according to EXIF
Seemingly simple but advice sought please.

Re: Reset EXIF & Rotate
What is meant by the setting "Change EXIF orientation ONLY when possible" in menu Tools -> Options -> Browser -> Misc. ?
Re: Reset EXIF & Rotate
Don't change the data, but only EXIF fieldDirk13 wrote:What is meant by the setting "Change EXIF orientation ONLY when possible" in menu Tools -> Options -> Browser -> Misc. ?
Pierre.
Re: Reset EXIF & Rotate
OK, thank you, Pierre.
The text is a little misunderstandable IMHO - my interpretation was "Change Exif orientation only (if it is) possible", which would be unnecessary to mention, as long as XnView probably can't do impossible things.

Re: Reset EXIF & Rotate
If I got the above discussion right, the option's text should be changed to seomthing like:
"Rotate images by modifying EXIF orientation (if possible)".
"Rotate images by modifying EXIF orientation (if possible)".
Re: Reset EXIF & Rotate
Yes, I think so - right, Pierre?
This option would be used for example if orientation value of the camera's vertical sensor is wrong, isn't it?
(The alternative would be to rotate the image itself without adapting the EXIF orientation value.)
