is there some plugin maybe that can use some other .dll, like the libavcodec.dll (eg vlc) for creating thumbnails?
lots of people, who are serious about keeping the windows installation clean,
didnt install codecs when standalone solutions like vlc, mplayer, kmplayer etc. are available..
how are the videofiles recognized? on my system i have the coreavc codec only, that plays mkv, wmv etc,
but i have removed windowsmediaplayer from my os and they dont show thumbs.

Re: Video Thumbnails withou codec installed?
i dont see a fmpeg addon here > http://www.xnview.com/en/addons.html ?
edit:/ ok, this one? http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.p ... peg#p65815
i unpacked it to /addons , but still i dont see thumbs, how do i get xnview to use it? does it still show only the first frame, which would be pretty useless?
