Making a filter effect take effect
I am trying to use "effects" "oil painting". The effect is clearly shown in the small "after" window, but I cannot find a way to apply it to the main image. Any help will be appreciated, Dick in Seattle.

Hello,
In View Mode\ Filter\Effects...\oil painting ... check or not the "apply to image" box, ... then OK

Thanks for your reply. The "Apply to Image" option + OK has no effect. (Something is happening, because if the tick is off, there is a delay after putting it on).

On which OS and XnView Version ?
Maybe you can also try to rename your xnview.ini file to see if this problem still there

I am running XP ( kept up-to-date). XNVIEW is version 1.97.4, downloaded and installed 5/30/10.
I renamed the .ini file (which I had selected to be in the program directory), and chose the Documents and Settings location for the new version. The program behaved as before.

As always, the small After screen shows the change, but I cannot get the main picture to change.

Yes, I used 'apply to image'. (That was noted in an earlier message).
I have also re-installed the program a couple of times.

I have not received any response to my email with file attached (the picture you requested). I used webmaster@<-- removed* -->, the only address I could find on xnview.com. (I could not find"contact"). Did you receive the email/file?

I have re-sent the email with picture-file to the webmaster email address. (I can't find any other address on XNVIEW.COM).
