Sorry for this sort of crossposting (see my posts and others here http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=14197 and here http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=744), but it looks like there are several questions to be answered, currently fragmented over several posts and topics.
Regarding the possibility of having HTML files (.htm, .html and .mht) showing thumbnails, the following need to be "straightened out":
1. is the Xhtml plugin needed with version 1.92.1 or is XnView able to render the thumbnails natively?
2. whatever the answer to (1) above, is the functionality available in Vista? Is there anybody who can confirm it is working indeed?
3. is Ghostscript really needed for the Xhtml plugin to work?
Current tests by myself, using settings that worked flawlessly under XP, seem to demonstrate that HTML thumbnail functionality is NOT available under Vista, which if true would be a great disappointment. I hope some light can be shed on the subject and, as usual, Pierre, if you wish to test something under Vista just tell me.

Re: HTML Thumbnails on Vista
For all other files, xnview use the windows shell to retrieve the thumbnail.robc wrote: 1. is the Xhtml plugin needed with version 1.92.1 or is XnView able to render the thumbnails natively?
So if you have the thumbnail is in explorer, you must have them in xnview
It's the same2. whatever the answer to (1) above, is the functionality available in Vista? Is there anybody who can confirm it is working indeed?
No, i don't think3. is Ghostscript really needed for the Xhtml plugin to work?
Pierre.
Thanks, Pierre; no, Vista doesn't show any preview for HTML files. Then, unless somebody proves me wrong (which I'd hope for, though it seems I'm the only one using XnView under Vista... ) I must assume that it's not possible to view thumbnails for HTML files under Vista, either with "plain" XnView or the Xhtml plugin.
If this is indeed the sad truth, then it's a pity XnView cannot display those thumbs and somebody to re-code everything without the OS support in shimgvw.dll would be needed...
