the classic version, should support webp (animated or not) formats.
as a image viewer, the MP version is too huge. the light weight classic is perfect, but webp not well supported...
webp support is necessary

Re: webp support is necessary
have tried the webp plugin, but it does not work.
set xnview classic as the default viewer, double click a static webq image returns the explorer --- this should be resolved by xnview classic, but not by working with registry. animated webp cannot be opened at all

Re: webp support is necessary
Dear Pierre,
when drag&droping a file on the XnView classic Icon nothing happens.
I'm working with XnView classic 2.51.4 version.
When having the XnView classic opened with showing the content of a directory and displaying the page with big Preview pictures and the Preview pane
- for *.gif *.jpg *.png etc you can see all Miniature pictures and of course on the bigger Preview pane
- you can see the Miniature picture for *.webp, but nothing on the Preview pane
- you can't see any Miniature picture for *.gifv, but the animation on the Preview pane
- for movies like *.asx *asf, *.mov *.mpg (older formats) you can see a Minuature picture and can play the Movie in the Preview pane
- for *.mp4 you don't see any Miniature picture, nor anything at the Preview pane
Hope that helps.
Maybe some kind of manual could be written, how to
- turn on the Miniature picture for these newer (Google) formats
- turn on the animation, like for normal gif, or playing like for mpg etc
Because even if I put the GIFV or MP4 into the settings for Minuature / Preview etc - nothing happens for them.
Greetings
Mike

Re: webp support is necessary
you can see it, but cannot open it. you may try whatever webp (static or animated). sometimes, static webp cannot be opened either, animated webp cannot be opened at all.
really love this software, and hope this could be resolved.
for image viewer, lightweight is more welcome, not the MP version which is of somewhat terrible weight
