browser thumbnail view - select multiple files

In browser, why don´t I have a space between the thumbnail files, even when I set spacing to 20?

I need to click on an empty space between the thumbnail files and make a marquee selection, so that I can select multiple files easily, delete grouped selections etc, like I do on windows file explorer. Is it possible?
