REQ: Moving favorites box could add more usable space.

Post by marsh »

Moving favorites box below small toolbar would create more usable space. It would allow for larger preview windows.

... Moving favorites box below small toolbar ...
I totally agree. The buttons in that (or any) toolbar should wrap. The recent paths dropdown isn't even visible in the view I use:

Though a better solution for me would be for that toolbar to dock on the left of the view... and the recent paths combo to migrate to the main browser toolbar...? Maybe.

I'm hoping for truly configurable/dockable toolbars in v2.0

Or maybe do it the way Microsoft does:

Clicking that little double arrow shows the rest of the buttons.

As a menu

:) Hello John !

- In XnView, you get too a small arrow-button, but it shows the missing buttons as a list / menu… I would much prefer the icons as a second rank.
- In Win 98 SE for Desktop custom tool-bars, it's the same than in XnView, though : a list, not the icons… :|

Claude

I'm with Dreamer and disagree.
Such a move could cause massive bugs with little benefit. If you want a bigger preview area, change resolution or get a bigger monitor.

Not with the file list toolbar. Or at least, not on my system.

Huh? What massive bugs? In my opinion it's already a bug that you can make a toobar control unavailable simply by changing the window/panel size!

Would be cool if one could customize this toolbar though.

:) Hello !
Would be cool if one could customize this toolbar though.
- If you mean the small 8-icon 16*16 in the browser, indeed I would wish that this bar be customizable at all !
- 16*16 is really tiny, and doesn't allow to draw nice explicit (and for me : funny) icons… I just discussed this out the forum with another user-friend, we think that 19*19 or better 21*21 (or so) might be allowed; this needs just some instructions in the <info.txt> file for each skin…
- It could be "detachable" too, so one could place it at any prefered location (like in the plugin of Total Commander "SG_Viewer", 9 icons as 20*20).

 Pierre
- Please, could you tell us what prevents to use (a bit) larger icons there ?

- Indeed, for a next version, although it's better to polish up the part while it's on the bench still… :D

 Kind regards to all,
Claude

There is not enough room for all the controls intended for that toolbar already... no need for larger icons, that would just make matters worse for me.

What a deal !

>> JohnFredC

:) Hi John !

- Not a big deal, IMHO. To get larger icons should cost only 5 pixels max. at height, and to decrease that damned useless bookmarks combobox ( very wide currently) by 40 pixels max. at width …
- Moreover, whether the bar could be chosen, you could set the one you wish (tiny if you like…)
