XnView download
The download of XnView could be easier in my opinion.
See here: http://www.xnview.com/en/downloadwin32.html
Currently there are too many versions, which is confusing.
Suggestions:
1. There should be a basic english version and extension modules and a complete version.
2. The file names should contain the version number.

It's not possible, many download server doesn't update the filename...2. The file names should contain the version number.

Re: XnView download
With "basic" I mean a minimal version. Then there should be extension modules that can be added. The complete version should contain the basic version and all extension modules.xnview wrote: So no minimal?
Really? Then I would suggest to use better servers ...xnview wrote: It's not possible, many download server doesn't update the filename...

Re: XnView download
- TUCOWS has a horrible web design
- They offer FastStone Image Viewer 3.0, while the current version is 4.0 (see http://www.faststone.org/)
- It can be downloaded as "FSViewerSetup30.exe"

Re: XnView download
A version number in the name of the download file would be a good thing and could be feasible this way:xnview wrote:I means not my download server, but external server such as tucows, ...Karl02 wrote:Really? You could have two files with the same contens (or a real file and a hard link): One file with version number for all those servers (including yours), which support version numbers. And one file without version number for all other servers. But plug-ins, add-ons, help and language files shouldn't have a version number, this would be too much effort, then.

What is the best?
XnView-win-1.97.8.exe or XnView-win-1978.exe

Re: XnView download
Just my opinion, XnView-win-1.97.8.exe... the other one looks like a year date instead of a version number.

No points in filename!
Hyphen (minus -) to concatenate things which belong together.
Underline (_) to separate infos.

Stick to the underscores. I don't know about the rest of you, but they always seemed to hint at (and often deliver the message of) "this is reliable freeware/open source you're downloading: look- we're naming our installer L/Unix-style" to me.
