Request: Adjustment ToolBar

I really like the image adjustment toolbar approach as shown in PhotoFiltre. I prefer XNView, though, so it would be great to have an adjustment toolbar in the XNView viewer panel.

Yes, that's it. But the most important to me would be gamma.

Perhaps these "adjustment" buttons could be available in the current Options->Toolbar->Buttons Displayed dialog, one button for each function and adjustment direction.

So for brightness, contrast, and gamma, that would be six buttons to choose from...

Just an idea. A separate adjustment toolbar would be better, but that might be much more programming effort.

John et al,

thank you for your suggestion. I also think that the adjustment of colours is important. But I don't think that the normal toolbar is the right place for the sliders to adjust saturation, lightness, .... It's too many of them.

Perhaps a good start and simple solution would be a toolbar button "Adjust" which opens the "Adjust" dialog. What do you think?

I think important is also a "reset" button for brightness, contrast and gamma or/and single for all.

And also keyboard shortcuts, I'll try to find some... I think it would be better and quicker solution.

I'd like an Adjust button, and one for Resize.

It would be nice to have a quickie resizer, where you could preprogram a button for your common height or width.

For instance, I use 800x600, and most images that need resizing are tall/vertical, so a quick click to make something 600 high is what I want.

A width button would be nice too, but granted there would be more exceptions where you'd need to crop.

I guess having a button to display the adjustment dialog would be OK... but I really would also like direct control via toolbar buttons. Much faster/intuitive.

My suggestion about buttons for the existing toolbar was just to make the programming easier. In my dreams it would be better to have a separate adjustment toolbar which I could position anywhere on the screen (or as a sidebar) and which could be user-populated from a dialog similar to the current one for the main toolbar.

I also hope for the ability to work directly on a preview image, but that is an even bigger effort, so I didn't ask for it.

The funny thing about these kinds of requests for XNView is that I have nearly every graphic tool available on my workstation (Photoshop, PSP, Photopaint, ArcSoft stuff, innumerable browsers and adjustors, plugins, etc., etc., etc.) but I still prefer to use XNView for most of my basic photo adjustment work. XNView just feels more comfortable than the rest.

My requests are for ways to make XNView even more comfortable.

¤ I suport your idea. In fact, isn't so easy to add (a) button(s) in the standard toool-bar : this needs to change ALL skins too, even if the programming action itself could be "light"…

Thank you for your suggestions and explanation. Enhancing the toolbar with just one icon can be done shortterm/midterm, I think.
