I have bunches of unsorted family pictures I am sorting out on my Axim x51v.
I am using XnView to browse through them, but am running into a problem with XnView running slow to load thumbnails when I have too many in a folder. I'm not sure if it is the number of files or the total size per folder.
When I get over 200 it takes a long time to load all the thumbnails.
I'm just wondering if this is just due to the device RAM limitations?
If so, what would be a reasonable number of files per folder or size of files in a folder for XnView?
Or, is there a better way to organize that creating a bunch of folders and putting about 150 files in each folder?
(I then copy them to other folders by date, like June_2008, and sometimes date and event ColoradoVacation_July_2008).
Thanks

Try to disable 'cache thumbnail', and remove cache.xnuzziah0 wrote:I get long delays every time.

Re: Files per folder
I had already disabled "use thumbnail cache", and now deleted all the cache.xn.
When I browse to a folder with about 200 pictures it takes over a minute, sometimes close to 2 minutes to "load" the thumbnail images.
When I put more pictures in a folder, and start looking at them, I will eventually get to a point where the image does not display (I can't remember the error message, I think it was something about not enough RAM). I think last time I had that happen there were 800 pictures in the folder (I have since broken that into smaller folders).
I guess I'm just trying to figure out how to organize my pictures so I can look at all of them.
Just make a bunch of folders with no more than 200 pictures?

I have some 2 MP pictures and the newer ones are 4 MP.
The files are 500 KB to 1.3 MB
